The Financial Aid/Veterans Affairs Coordinator reports to the Director, Student Services. His/her duties will include administration of various financial aid and veterans affairs programs/functions such as reconciliation, customer service, federal return of funds calculations, satisfactory academic progress, documents processing, and enrollment certifications as needed.  He/she is responsible for providing training to the field staff, collaborating and coordinating closely with other departments and field offices to ensure that financial aid is administered compliantly; enrollment certifications are processed; and that our students are served well.  The FA/VA Coordinator will assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the effectiveness of UMUC financial aid and veterans affairs policies and procedures for the UMUC Asia operations; researches and remains current in federal regulations and guidance; participates in professional associations.  Other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree or progress towards a bachelor’s degree required
  • Two or more years experience in Financial Aid and working knowledge of VA certification processes required
  • Experience in customer service and training others using PowerPoint Office preferred
  • Good computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) are essential
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft and VAOnce are strongly desired
  • Must meet qualifications to be named a VA Certifying Official
  • Ability to work with diverse groups
  • Ability to coordinate and effectively prioritize the needs of his/her areas of responsibility
  • Excellent organization, management, and communication skills
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Must be able to pass a U.S. background check
  • Must have or be eligible to obtain U.S. SOFA
