Location: Online and Onsite in MD, VA or DC

University of Maryland University College (UMUC) seeks an adjunct faculty to teach Health Services Management in a (hybrid) face-to-face and online settings.  


  • Demonstrate an ability to utilize face-to-face and online instructional technology tools when engaging students throughout the course learning environments.
  • Develop, plan, implement, and guide assignments, online or in-class discussions, and learning activities for assigned courses.
  • Demonstrate an ability to effectively convey course concepts in written and oral communications.
  • Demonstrate adaptability to facilitate courses with adult learners from diverse backgrounds.


  • Candidates need to be fully conversant with one or more of the following content areas.
  • Management in a health care setting.
  • Health care policy.
  • Health care law and ethics.
  • Health care research and data analysis.
  • Health care marketing.
  • Hospital management.
  • Ambulatory care management.
  • Managed care.


  • Master’s degree is required, Health Care or related, preferred from an accredited institution of higher learning.
  • Professional experience Health Services Management.
  • Higher Education teaching experience preferred.


  • A terminal degree (i.e. PhD, JD, DBA etc.) is preferred from an accredited institution of higher learning.
  • Experience teaching adult learners in an online environment is also preferred.

The Adjunct Faculty Role at UMUC

  • Actively engage students though frequent interaction that motivates them to succeed, and conveys a genuine energy and enthusiasm for their learning.
  • Guide students in active collaboration and the application of their learning in problem- and project-based learning demonstrations.
  • Provide rich and regular constructive feedback, utilizing rubrics effectively for the assessment of student work, and acknowledging student accomplishments.
  • Demonstrate relevant and current subject-matter expertise, and help students connect concepts across their academic program.
  • Provide feedback to your program chair on possible curricular improvements.
